Job summary

Faris Machinery in Commerce City, CO is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician / Field Service Mechanic to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain a wide range of construction equipment at customer sites along the Front Range. The role involves field service, dealership shop work, and occasional overtime opportunities.

You should have 5–10 years of heavy equipment experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics; a valid driver's license is required and Class B CDL

Qualifications

• Must have 5–10 years of heavy equipment technician or mechanic experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; able to read manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; CDL Class B preferred.
• Technical training in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair; welding experience.
• Experience in a heavy equipment dealership environment; OEM certifications or manufacturer training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain construction and heavy equipment in a dealership shop environment.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and machine components.
• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and scheduled service repairs.
• Rebuild/replace engines, pumps, motors, cylinders, and major components.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment to manufacturer specs.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
• Document inspections, labor, parts usage, and repair work performed.
• Work with Service Manager and Parts Department to ensure timely repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Participate in OEM training and provide guidance to less experienced technicians.

Heavy Equipment Technician / Field Service Mechanic

Commerce City, CO | Full-Time

Pay: $36.00-$46.00 per hour

Faris Machinery is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our Commerce City team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment at customer locations throughout the Front Range and surrounding service areas. Schedule

• Monday-Friday
• Typical hours: 7:00 AM-4:00 PM or 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Overtime opportunities may be available based on business needs

What You'll Do

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain construction and heavy equipment in a dealership shop environment.
• Troubleshot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and machine components.
• Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and scheduled service repairs.

Travel Requirements

• Frequent travel throughout the Front Range and surrounding service areas.
• Ability to work at customer facilities, construction sites, quarries, and industrial locations.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required based on customer and business needs.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• 5-10 years of heavy equipment technician or mechanic experience
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL Preferred
• Technical training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or a related field
• Welding experience
• Experience working in a heavy equipment dealership environment
• Current CDL (Class B or higher)
• OEM certifications or manufacturer training
