Job summary

Texas Materials in Texas is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty diesel equipment used in aggregates, mining, and construction operations.

This role emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork in shop and field environments, with opportunities for advancement and access to medical, dental, disability benefits, and retirement savings programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment.
  • AES certifications and/or manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and engine-related issues on heavy equipment and support vehicles.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services including inspections, lubrication, fluid changes, and equipment adjustments.
  • Repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, braking systems, steering systems, and suspension components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems on loaders, haul trucks, excavators, crushers, conveyors, and other aggregate production equipment.
  • Conduct equipment inspections to identify safety concerns and required repairs.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately and timely.
  • Operate diagnostic tools, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and component replacement as needed.
  • Assist with field service repairs and emergency breakdown response.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Follow all companies, OSHA, and MSHA safety regulations and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other maintenance personnel regarding equipment status and repair needs.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
