Markit! Forestry Management is seeking a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to support its Fleet Management team. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a wide range of industrial and small engine equipment to enable forestry operations across California and neighboring states.

The role requires problem solving, the ability to work in adverse weather, and willingness to travel as projects demand. Training will be provided and evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and small engine equipment.
• Work on site in varying weather conditions and elevations; year-round operations.
• Fabricate hydraulic hoses and order parts using manuals and catalogs; deliver parts to projects.
• Lead and train the heavy equipment mechanic team.
• Handle equipment transport, washing, and on-site service tasks.

Job description

In this position you will be a member of Markit!'s Fleet Management team and you will report to the Vice President of Operations and Shop Manager.

Location:

Projects will be located throughout the State of California and surrounding states, including Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Travel:

80% but may be up to 100% depending on project assignment.

Duties:

The Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic will perform scheduled, unscheduled, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and small engine equipment to facilitate the forestry operations of Markit! Forestry Management LLC ("Markit!"). Maintenance and repairs will happen frequently on site in high elevations and in adverse weather conditions. Work is completed year round.

This position requires knowledge of maintenance, trouble-shooting, and solving complex maintenance issues. The primary responsibilities of the position are:

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with applicable Original Equipment Manufacturers technical manuals.
• Perform repairs on inoperable equipment.
• Perform repairs in one or more areas in accordance with service manuals and manufacturers specifications.
• Equipment includes Bobcat and ASV Loaders, Industrial Tractors, Delimbers, Skidders, Chippers, Log Loaders, Harvesters, Graders, Dozers, Grinders, Excavators, Generators, Pressure Washers, attachments, trucks and trailers.
• Perform fabrication of hydraulic hoses.
• Order parts by using manuals and catalogs.
• Deliver parts to projects as necessary.
• Equipment transport and washing.
• Hiring and training of heavy equipment mechanic team.

• Able to travel on short notice, some overnight travel may be required.

• Able to work in adverse weather conditions, and austere environments.
• Able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to use precision measuring and testing equipment.
• Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex maintenance issues.
