Job summary

State of Alaska's Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, State Equipment Fleet, is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic-Rural ARFF at Advanced Journey level to maintain and repair equipment for rural roads, airports, and other agency vehicles.

This role requires diagnosing complex equipment issues, servicing transmissions, drive trains, engines, emission control, hydraulics, and braking systems, with paid training for CDL for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining heavy-duty and light-duty equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex systems including transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission, hydraulics, and brakes.
• Willingness to obtain CDL via paid training for qualified applicants.

Responsibilities

• Professionally maintain all heavy-duty and light duty equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports and other user agency vehicles being operated in the area.
• The incumbent must be able to resolve unusual or complex equipment problems through a variety of techniques and methods. The incumbent performs routine and specialized repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment.
• Must be able to diagnose, maintain, repair and modify the following systems: Transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission, along with fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and brake systems including air and electrical for light and heavy-duty equipment.
