Job summary

SA-TECH is seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. The role requires operating heavy equipment for construction, road and grounds maintenance, and tower erection at a DoD facility.

Applicants must have a High School diploma or equivalent, Utah CDL-A, U.S. citizenship, the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance within 90 days, and pass drug/physical/background screenings. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with outdoor work conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Specialized training and at least two years of experience operating heavy equipment for erection of towers and maintenance of roads/grounds.
• Utah CDL-A license required.
• U.S. Citizenship and you must obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within 90 days and maintain it.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical, plus periodic retests.
• Background screening including SSN, driving record, and criminal background investigation.

At Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), southwest of Salt Lake City Utah, SA-TECH supports the West Desert Test Center (WDTC), the nation’s designated Major Range Test Facility Base (MRTFB) for chemical and biological defense. The WDTC plans, conducts, evaluates, reports, and supports Chemical and Biological (CB) and non-CB testing efforts for the Department of Defense (DoD), other federal agencies, private industries, and foreign Governments (e.g., environmental assessment/impact evaluations, weapons and munitions demilitarization, chemical energetics/homemade explosive testing, unmanned systems testing, direct and indirect fire weapons testing, hazard assessments, and technical/logistical support of operations at DPG).

At DPG, SA-TECH is looking to hire a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator onto our team to support program efforts and contribute to success at this major DoD Test Facility.

Specific duties include (but are not limited to):

• Operate heavy duty equipment to assist construction and other related work, such as maintaining roads and grounds, erecting towers and constructing facilities and other buildings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:

• Work is mostly performed outdoors under changing weather conditions depending on the location of equipment and projects.
• Must be familiar with safety processes, procedures and concerns in relation to working with heavy duty equipment.
• May be required to lift and handle heavy items (50 lbs.).
• Stand/walk, climb, stoop, bend and push and pull for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks that require such protective gear.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Specialized training and at least two (2) years of experience in the operation of heavy equipment as it pertains to the erection of towers and the maintenance of roads and grounds.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
• A commitment to maintaining a productive and collaborative working environment.
• Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
• U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within 90 days of hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical, as well as periodic retests.
• All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver's Record, and a Criminal Background Investigation.
