MGC Contractors, Inc is looking for a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic our Arizona Division in the Phoenix metro area.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
• Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
• Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, etc.)
• Keep logs of work and report issues.
• Any and all other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Technical skills to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty vehicles and construction equipment.
• Manuel dexterity and physical stamina to carry out complex tasks such as replacing heavy parts and components, working in tight spaces, and standing for extended periods.
• A solid understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems, engines, and other components of heavy-duty machinery.
• Problem-solving skills to identify, analyze and fix issues that might affect the performance of the machinery.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices to avoid accidents.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The role of a heavy-duty mechanic is fundamental a heavy-labor, physically strenuous occupations requiring a blend of raw muscular strength, stamina and fine motor dexterity. Regularly required to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, tools, and equipment parts weighing anywhere from 50 to 100 pounds (and occasionally up to 150 pounds with mechanical assistance or team lifts). Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, and lying flat on creepers or concrete to access undercarriage components. Regularly required to climb up and down commercial trucks, earthmoving equipment, ladders, or scaffolding to reach top-mounted engines and components. Standing, walking, and maintaining an active physical posture for most of the shift (70-80 percent of the workday). Extensive use of hands, fingers, and arms to grasp, wrench, assemble, and make rapid, precise adjustments to tiny or deeply recessed mechanic parts. Close-range, distance, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and color differentiation, are critical for reading schematics, inspecting tiny fractures, tracking moving parts, and interpreting electrical color codes. Often relies on detecting abnormal operating noises (hisses, grinding, knocks) or chemical/burning odors (hot clutches, fluid leaks, electrical shorts)
• This position can alternate between well-lit repair shop/garage and harsh outdoor construction sites. When working outdoors or in non-climate-controlled shops, exposure to ambient weather conditions is a constant-including sever summer heat/humidity, freezing winter cold, rain, snow, and wind. Regular proximity to heavy, moving mechanical equipment, high-voltage electrical circuits, pressurized fluid/hydraulic systems, and precarious elevated heights. The environment is frequently load due to the operation of heavy pneumatic tools, grinders, an large machinery. Mechanics are also regularly exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, grease, oil, solvents, and the smell of burning rubber or diesel. Mandatory and Strick adherence to safety protocols requiring PPE, including safety boots, safety glasses, heavy gloves, hard hats, and hearing protection.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime, weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Trade certification or Diploma in a relevant field is preferred.
• At least three (3) years of experience of as a HD Mechanic working on construction equipment.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of heavy-duty construction equipment.
• Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment.
• Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc.
• Must possess verbal and written communication skills.
