Guardian Fleet Services in Louisville, KY, is seeking a Heavy Duty Wrecker Driver to safely operate tow trucks for recovering and transporting commercial vehicles and equipment. The driver represents the company on scene, maintains professionalism, and adheres to safety standards while communicating with dispatch and law enforcement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy duty wreckers and recovery equipment to tow or recover various vehicles/heavy equipment.
• Perform complex recoveries including rollovers, winch outs, load shifts, and accident scene operations.
• Inspect, maintain, and secure all rigging, chains, straps, winches, and towing equipment.
• Conduct pre trip and post trip inspections of the wrecker and report mechanical issues.
• Communicate with dispatch, law enforcement, customers, and other responders on scene.
• Secure loads safely and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Complete required paperwork, digital logs, and service reports.
• Respond to calls during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized truck and uphold company safety standards.

Position Summary

The Heavy Duty Wrecker Driver is responsible for safely operating heavy duty tow trucks to recover, tow, and transport commercial vehicles, equipment, and other large loads. This role requires advanced driving skill, strong mechanical awareness, and the ability to perform physically demanding recovery tasks in all weather conditions. The driver represents the company on scene and must maintain professionalism, safety, and efficiency at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy duty wreckers and recovery equipment to tow or recover various vehicles/heavy equipment.
• Perform complex recoveries including rollovers, winch outs, load shifts, and accident scene operations.

Physical Requirements

Job requires lifting, crawling, pulling, constant use of hands, significant bending and reaching, climbing. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, working outdoors in environments that may be extreme cold or extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud. Lifting over 50 lbs is a job requirement; must not have any lifting restrictions and must not be afraid of heights.
