Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a skilled construction estimator for on-site roles in Brecksville, OH or Orlando, FL. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and site projects, collaborating with project teams to ensure accuracy and timely bids.

With 3+ years of estimating experience and proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, you will analyze plans, perform takeoffs, and present clear, risk-aware estimates to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction estimating experience.
• Experience in heavy civil or site construction preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for heavy civil and site projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans and specs.
• Develop full-scope estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
• Use estimating software and historical data to refine pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids.
• Identify risks and cost drivers, and propose value engineering.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate assumptions.
• Present estimates with key assumptions and risk considerations.
• Support handoff from estimating to operations.

Location

On-site role based in Brecksville, OH or Orlando, FL, working closely with project and field teams in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Note

This role requires 3+ years of construction estimating experience. Experience with HCSS HeavyBid and heavy civil or site construction estimating is strongly preferred and will significantly strengthen candidacy.
