Job summary

PSA Airlines is seeking a Heavy Check Engineer to oversee scheduled heavy maintenance across the fleet, serving as the engineering liaison between PSA, MROs, and internal stakeholders. You will ensure inspections, repairs, and modifications meet FAA and OEM standards and drive reliability.

You will evaluate findings, develop repair solutions, support troubleshooting, maintain engineering records, and help minimize aircraft downtime while upholding safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of aviation engineering or maintenance experience.
• Experience with aircraft maintenance programs and inspections.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and airworthiness requirements.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to obtain a passport and work in the U.S.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Heavy Check Engineer plans, coordinates, and provides engineering oversight for scheduled heavy maintenance events across PSA Airlines' fleet. Serves as the primary engineering liaison between PSA, Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs), and internal stakeholders, ensuring inspections, repairs, and modifications are completed safely and in compliance with FAA and manufacturer requirements. Evaluates complex maintenance findings, develops engineering repair solutions, and supports troubleshooting and corrective actions throughout the heavy maintenance process. Drives aircraft reliability and return-to-service objectives through technical problem-solving, process improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversight of the Heavy Maintenance work packages and repairs assigned to the aircraft.
• Evaluate unexpected findings during heavy check to support the creation of technical documents and coordinate approved engineering repairs.
• Providing engineering support for troubleshooting complex technical issues, collaborating with MROs to repair issues, and reviewing logbooks.
• Create and implement scheduled aircraft modifications, repairs, and structural upgrades (e.g., cabin reconfiguration, avionics updates).
• Maintaining, reviewing, and updating accurate engineering records based on scheduled maintenance activities.
• Acts as the primary bridge between the airline operator, management, and the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MROs).
• Create / Disposition all SDIRs/DTA's post Engineering review.
• Ensure all maintenance modifications comply strictly with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Original Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines.
• Continually review, author, and refine internal engineering processes, technical specifications, and maintenance workflows to minimize aircraft downtime.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements.
• Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in aviation, aircraft maintenance, or a related technical environment.
• Proven experience in aircraft maintenance with a working knowledge scheduled checks.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance programs, inspections, and repair processes.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and airworthiness requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.
• Display effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• If hired, must be able to obtain a valid passport.
• Ability to speak/read/write in English.
• If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

• Advanced degree in an engineering field or a closely related discipline.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
• 5+ years of experience in Engineering.
• Knowledge of CRJ Maintenance.
• Experience supporting heavy maintenance checks.
• Experience working with MRO providers.
