This position supports the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project, the first of its kind for enriched uranium operations supporting Y-12 missions. It is a significant investment by the Department of Energy and the NNSA, aiming to replace an old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs, improve safety, and enhance uranium capabilities. The project operates on a 4/10 schedule, with flexible start times and a standard workweek from Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Job Summary: The role involves HVAC design, development, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes, applying safety standards, techniques, and criteria. Responsibilities include creating reports, drawings, calculations, and collaborating with other engineering disciplines to contribute effectively to the team.
Major Responsibilities: Support design, review, commissioning, testing, and code interpretation activities at project sites. Develop and revise Ventilation and Instrumentation Diagrams (V&IDs), perform calculations, support safety and hazard analyses, and apply mechanical engineering methods. Coordinate with other disciplines, provide technical assistance, and interact with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to resolve complex issues and ensure compliance.
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with 2-5 years of professional experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
