Job summary

Bodycote in South Windsor, CT is seeking a Heat Treating Technician to perform essential heat treatment tasks under a Production Manager. The role requires 3–5 years of experience and involves operating heat treating equipment, loading/unloading materials, and ensuring safety and accuracy to meet customer specs.

Qualifications

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical; have the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this position are 4:00 pm to 2:30 am M-Th.

Position Summary:

Based in South Windsor, CT the Heat Treater A will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety sensitive.

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Heat Treating Technician.

Level A: Senior-Level: 3 to 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of heat treating. You will lead initiatives, mentor junior team members, and make strategic contributions to the department.

• Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
• Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

• This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.

Physical & Mental Demands:

• Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
• Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone

Pay & Benefits Information

The hourly pay range for this position is $22 – $28 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.

This role is eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential.
