Job summary

Harrison Steel's finishing operations are seeking a Heat Treat Furnace Operator on 2nd shift to load and unload large steel castings, operate fork truck and overhead hoist, and monitor thermal cycles to meet customer specifications.

You'll record heat treatment data, participate in routine furnace maintenance, and work in a safety‑conscious, team‑oriented environment at our Attica, Indiana facility.

Qualifications

• Hands-on work ethic and readiness to perform physical tasks.

Job description

Harrison Steel has openings on 2nd shift in its finishing operations for a Heat Treat Furnace Operator. Using large furnaces to heat up steel castings to between 600-1800 degrees Fahrenheit allows us to achieve the correct properties our customers require. This position operates a fork truck and overhead hoist to load and unload large steel castings into our furnaces. Normal duties involve:

• Safely loading and unloading castings on a trolley hoist
• Quenching castings into a water tank by hooking, dipping, and unhooking castings
• Recording heat treatment activities on a computer
• Assisting in routine furnace maintenance

Work Environment

The employee regularly work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
