Job summary

University of California, Irvine's UCI Health is seeking a Quality Improvement Specialist in the Heart and Vascular Institute to support clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. You will oversee abstraction, validation, and submission of registry data (STS/CCORP) and develop actionable insights through dashboards and reports.

The role partners with physicians and administrative teams to identify opportunities, drive performance improvement, and educate staff on quality

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of statistics.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications with emphasis on Excel and Viseo.
• Strong analytical skills to effectively comprehend complex system reports and analyze an array into an actionable form.
• Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available.
• Previous experience or exposure to quality, patient safety, infection control, or performance improvement methodologies (includes educational experience if applicable).
• Previous experience creating, maintaining, and extracting information from a variety of databases.
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate meticulous attention to accuracy with data collection and reporting.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Minimum 2 years clinical RN experience.
• Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with physicians, managers and high-level administrative staff as well as support staff who are critical to departmental functions.
• Current California RN license.
• Ability to prioritize and contribute to simultaneous projects and facilitate teamwork among project staff / participants.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in operational transactions and communications.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• The role supports clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement activities across the Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI).
• Analyzes clinical and operational data to develop actionable insights, dashboards, and reports; supports multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives; coordinates HVI quality and patient safety committee activities; and collaborates with physicians, clinical leaders, and administrative teams to identify opportunities and improve outcomes.
