The Hearing Test Technician is responsible for performing newborn screening hearing exams on all newborns prior to discharge. The technician is responsible for monitoring the daily census, performing screenings prior to discharge, documenting results, discussing results with parents, and entering charges into the billing system. The technician will report to the Hearing Screening Coordinator and Division Administrator.

The screening hearing test technician works in and adjacent to the nurseries on CWN Floors 9, and 10 as well as in the NICU. There are the normal levels of medical equipment noise as well as infants crying. The technician must wheel the screening equipment on a cart from unit to unit. The technician will spend several hours at a time hours on his/her feet and must bend from the waist over infants' cribs to attach screening equipment and comfort infants.
