Job summary

VCU School of Medicine in Richmond is seeking a research and program assistant to support pediatric obesity research within the Healthy Lifestyle Center at Children’s Hospital of Richmond. You will assist in recruitment, retention, data collection, and literature reviews to translate community needs into program deliverables.

Responsibilities

Maintain active Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) certification or other requirements for the ethical conduct ofresearch and adheres to these standards re: participantconfidentiality and safety.
Understand and adhere to all human subject protection and IRBregulations required for clinical research. Understand duty toreport obligations related to research conduct, and the appropriateuniversity channels for reporting concerns.
Communicate closely with the PI and Senior ResearchCoordinator
Attend regular research meetings
Support the PI and other senior study staff in following studyparticipants through all study activities to ensure that the studyis conducted in compliance with all requirements
Assist the PI with the development and preparation of researchneeds (grants, presentations, literature reviews)
Administer assessments, implement retention protocols, andother tasks as needed (could facilitate groups based onqualifications)
Assist with the coordination and/or preparation and collect allnecessary study documentation
Follow all university and School of Medicine procedures foractivation and management of clinical research.

Duties & Responsibilities

This purpose of this position is to provide support for researchand other community-engaged activities conducted within themultidisciplinary pediatric obesity treatment and research centerin the Department of Pediatrics at the Healthy Lifestyle Center atChildren’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University(CHoR). Qualified candidates will serve as a community-engaged research andprogram assistant for Center-related programmatic efforts andgrant-funded research protocols examining pediatric obesityprevention and treatment conducted in the Healthy Lifestyles Centerat Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. They will be responsiblefor assisting in recruitment and retention for community-engagedresearch; providing background on research and literature relatedto pediatric obesity and health, data collection; and dataanalysis. This position will also include assisting in translatingcommunity needs into programmatic efforts and grant deliverables.In these roles, the research assistant will collaborate with otherresearch staff in the center. This position will report to theResearch Manage and Center Co-Directors and will work closely withother research assistants within the Center. This position iscontingent on grant-funding.

Data Collection & Management

Evaluates, uses and refines systems for data collection andcollaborates with research team members to ensure data accuracy andintegrity.
Participates in community-based data collection activities
Maintain integrity of data and maintain research study recordsaccording to IRB and sponsor requirements.
Maintain study files according to GCP guidelines and in auditready condition.
For assigned studies, ensure subject data is entered in atimely manner and in accordance with sponsor and university/school–level requirements.
