Responsibilities

The Opportunity: We are interested in college students looking to develop functional insurance industry knowledge and skills related to healthcare liability underwriting, risk assessment, and insurance operations. You will gain exposure to the healthcare liability business, including professional liability and medical malpractice coverages, while working with underwriting professionals across the organization. This internship provides an opportunity to develop technical insurance knowledge, business acumen, and professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Location: New York, NY

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with expected in-office attendance 4 days per week.

The Pay Rate for this role is between $25.50 and $26.50 an hour

Responsibilities
  • Learn and model QBE values through participation in required training classes.
  • Develop and implement performance and developmental coaching plans with the support of your manager.
  • Participate in weekly training sessions gaining insight across QBE North America.
  • Build relationships with underwriters, assistant underwriters, claims professionals, risk solutions specialists, and other business partners.
  • Support underwriting activities by reviewing account information, conducting research, and assisting with policy transactions.
  • Learn the fundamentals of healthcare liability underwriting, including evaluation of healthcare organizations, medical professionals, and associated risks.
  • Gain exposure to healthcare liability products, coverage forms, and risk management considerations.
  • Assist in analyzing financial, operational, and risk-related information used in underwriting decisions.
  • Support agency and broker relationship activities through communications, meetings, and service-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, diversity and inclusion, creativity, and professionalism.

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a 4-year college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in insurance, risk management, healthcare administration, business, finance, economics, or another related field.
  • Course work or relevant experience with demonstrated achievements.
  • Ability to work from June 1st, 2026, to August 6th, 2026.
