Job summary

Carle Health in Urbana, IL is seeking a Health Care Technician to support licensed nursing staff and assist with personal care and hygiene for a patient group. Under the RN’s supervision, you will help communicate with departments, patients, visitors, and staff while acting as a liaison for the unit.

You will perform vital signs, glucose monitoring, and hourly rounding, while assisting with daily living activities and transport prep.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification within 30 days is required.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • CNA certification or CNA training completed or in progress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with unit supplies and charting tasks to support nursing staff.
  • Record and report patient data and vital signs as directed by RN.
  • Perform or assist with activities of daily living and transportation prep.
  • Conduct delegated tasks such as vitals, glucose monitoring, hygiene care, and ambulation.
  • Provide hourly rounding and document care per unit standards.
  • Offer emotional support to patients and families and report abnormal findings to RN.

Qualifications
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Work Experience: At least one semester of nursing clinical experience; Worked as CNA within past 24 months; Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program; Relevant medical military training; Completion of CNA coursework within past 24 months; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Responsibilities
  • Assists with the maintenance of unit supplies to ensure the smooth function of the unit, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts.
  • Collects data on assigned patients as directed by Registered Nurse (RN) and ensures accurate documentation.
  • Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as outlined in the skills checklist including: measurement of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and measuring and recording intake and output.
  • Performs or assists patients with the activities of daily living.
  • Prepares patients for transportation and/or transport.
  • Perform delegated tasks such as: obtaining vital signs, glucose monitoring, hygiene care, ambulation, repositioning patients, sending lab samples.
  • Perform purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients while marking initials on white board upon exiting patient room.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and family members Document patient care delivery per unit expectations/pass chart audit with no more than 2 deficits Assist with bone marrow aspirations as needed with physicians.
  • Complete delegated tasks in a timely manner and report any abnormal findings to the RN as soon as possible.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $17.89per hour - $28.98per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
