Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Healthcare Tech (HCT) to support licensed nursing staff under an RN, handling personal care and hygiene tasks for a patient group. The role also facilitates communication across departments and serves as a liaison on the unit.

Under supervision of the nursing manager, you will assist with vital signs, documentation, daily living activities, and unit supply management, while following safety and HIPAA guidelines. Training provided, BLS required.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days as required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with maintenance of unit supplies and inventory.
• Collects data and ensures accurate documentation as directed by RN.
• Demonstrates competency in vital signs measurement, glucose monitoring, intake/output.
• Completes annual education as assigned for program requirements (if applicable).
• Obtains and documents vital signs, intake/output and blood glucose.
• Bathing patients using CHG cloths.
• Assists with transfers and ambulation using assistive devices.
• Operates CPM machines for knee replacement patients.
• Hourly rounding and assistance with activities of daily living.

Overview

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Healthcare Tech (HCT) functions as a support to the licensed nursing staff and performs activities related to the personal care and hygiene needs of an assigned patient group. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. Serves as public relations liaison for the unit. Works under the direct supervision of the nursing manager.

Qualifications

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required), Work Experience:

Responsibilities

• Assists with the maintenance of unit supplies to ensure the smooth function of the unit, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts.
• Collects data on assigned patients as directed by Registered Nurse (RN) and ensures accurate documentation.
• Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as outlined in the skills checklist including: measurement of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and measuring and recording intake and output.
• If applicable, completes annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements.
• Obtaining and documenting vital signs, intake/output and blood glucoses for monitoring
• Bathing patients with both bath wipes and CHG cloths
• Proper body mechanics for transfers and ambulating ortho patients using walkers, lift machines, crutches, canes and/or platform walkers
• Continuous passive motion machine operation for total knee replacement patients
• Hourly rounding on patients and assist with activities of daily living

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $17.89per hour - $28.98per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health.
