Job summary

River Oaks Hospital, a behavioral health facility near New Orleans, seeks a Director of Plant Operations to oversee maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency. The role requires strategic leadership, extensive mechanical and electrical maintenance expertise, and proven supervisory experience in healthcare.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, and optimize uptime across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or related field; education may be substituted with experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years facilities management experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Experience reading blueprints and knowledge of Life Safety Codes, Joint Commission standards, OSHA regulations; hospital/psychiatric setting preferred.
• Proven management experience in healthcare facilities operations.
• Extensive mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in industrial maintenance.
• Strong electrical expertise including low/high voltage systems and schematics interpretation.
• Familiarity with PLCs, CMMS software, HVAC, and building automation controls.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills to lead diverse teams effectively.
• Knowledge of maintenance management principles and project management techniques.
• Excellent English communication for cross-department coordination.
• Certifications in electrical systems or facilities management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance programs for all plant systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Supervise maintenance staff and external contractors, promoting safety and accountability.
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to maximize uptime.
• Oversee installation, troubleshooting, and repair of PLCs, schematics, low/high voltage systems.
• Manage facilities projects from inception to completion, including upgrades and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure all facility systems meet safety codes and industry standards with regular inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, work orders, schematics, and safety protocols.
• Maintain safety protocols to meet Joint Commission standards.
