SCDHHS in South Carolina seeks an IT Healthcare Consultant – Business Analyst – Advanced to support CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 coding changes, MMIS governance, and policy guidance. The role acts as SME for medical coding, collaborating with policy staff and stakeholders for review and implementation.

A background in healthcare and CPC/CCS credentials are required. Responsibilities include analyzing code changes, documenting business rules, and preparing for a future MMIS replacement with reference

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in healthcare and coding environments.
• Strong knowledge of ICD/CPT/HCPCS translation and coding methodologies.
• 3+ years of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
• 3+ years of formal business process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Initiates annual and quarterly ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding updates from CMS.
• Reviews codes to determine scope of changes and prepares change listings.
• Conducts meetings with agency personnel, stakeholders, and process owners.
• Serves as SME for medical coding methodologies and Medicaid policy.
• Supports future MMIS replacement and DASH project meetings as needed.
