Wallowa Memorial Hospital and Medical Clinics is seeking an Insurance Billing Specialist to join our Business Office team. You will prepare, review, and submit claims, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain accurate patient records to support timely reimbursement.

The role requires a high school diploma, coursework in medical terminology, and knowledge of HIPAA. RHIT is preferred but not required, with strong attention to accuracy and customer service.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in bookkeeping, typing, grammar and mathematics preferred.
• Coursework or demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Previous experience in healthcare, medical billing, or customer service desirable.
• Working knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance claim processing, medical coding systems, and accounts receivable practices.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality standards, and release of information requirements preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper insurance claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Monitor outstanding accounts, investigate claim denials and reimbursement discrepancies, and perform necessary follow-up and appeals.
• Maintain billing records, reconcile payments, and manage work queues for timely reimbursement.
• Communicate with insurance representatives, patients, and internal departments regarding billing inquiries and claim status.
• Coordinate the release of information (ROI) process and verify authorizations.
