Job summary

The Project Engineer at VA Portland Health Care System plans, designs, and manages construction and maintenance projects from development through completion, including Minor Construction, NRM, Station-Level, and lease projects. You will work across architectural, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and life-safety disciplines within VA facilities and Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture with ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Evidence of passing FE exam or licensure may satisfy basic requirements.
• Citizenship and English proficiency requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages healthcare construction projects from initial concept through activation and closeout.
• Develops project requirements, scopes of work, conceptual designs, cost estimates, and project documentation.
• Reviews architectural and engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations for VA requirements and healthcare codes.
• Administers A/E and construction contracts, reviews submittals, change orders, schedules, payments, and project closeout.
• Leads Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) and multidisciplinary groups, coordinating stakeholders and meetings.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture
