Job summary

Berkshire Health & Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep the facility safe and well‑maintained. You’ll perform plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, minor repairs, and electrical work while ensuring preventative maintenance and timely completion of work orders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• One (1) year experience in commercial maintenance or related trade.
• Basic computer skills (e-mail, electronic ordering, work order tracking, etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work flexible hours and report within twenty (20) minutes of an emergency call.

Responsibilities

• Complete general facility maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, minor repairs, and electrical work.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is routinely performed on all equipment/systems.
• Prioritize and complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Assist with regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify issues.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Health and Life Safety Code and other regulations.
• Respond to fire and disaster situations and assist per emergency plans.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities including work orders, repairs, and inspections.
• Perform other duties necessary to ensure safe operation of the healthcare center.
