Job summary

Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced Maintenance Director to lead the Maintenance Department and ensure a safe, sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The role collaborates with administrators and department leaders to comply with regulations and deliver reliable facilities management.

The position emphasizes preventive maintenance planning, vendor coordination, safety, and budget oversight, with a pay range of $22.00-$23.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of supervisory experience in maintenance or plant-related roles.
• Healthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care maintenance experience preferred.
• Must read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, and building systems.
• Ability to make independent decisions and solve practical problems.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer-service skills.
• Available to assist with emergencies and on-call needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Maintenance Department and its daily operations.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, policies, procedures, and inspection records.
• Inspect resident rooms, common areas, and facility grounds for maintenance needs.
• Coordinate maintenance with Nursing, Dietary, Activities, Housekeeping, and other departments.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and climate-control systems.
• Ensure outside vendors complete work as contracted and supervised.
• Develop and implement safety and infection-control procedures for maintenance operations.
• Assist with department budget and monitor expenses, supplies, and labor.
