Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant to join a healthcare support services team in Welkom, Free State. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean environment and supporting patient care through meticulous cleaning practices.

Responsibilities include disinfection, PPE use, waste handling, supply replenishment, and equipment maintenance, with flexible shifts including weekends. The position offers on-the-job training and a stable contract in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare or similar institutional setting.
• Understanding of infection control principles and hazardous material handling.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and work with minimal supervision.
• Good physical health, capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to duty.
• Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach to cleaning tasks.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays if required.
• Must be based in or willing to commute to Welkom, Free State.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and health screenings.
• A positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, common areas, laboratories, and administrative offices.
• Adhere to strict infection control policies and procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Manage waste disposal, including biohazardous materials, in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and clinical areas.
• Operate specialized cleaning equipment and floor care machinery safely and effectively.
• Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies and spill clean-ups.
• Maintain cleanliness of cleaning equipment and storage areas.
• Follow detailed cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure all areas in Welkom are adequately serviced.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff regarding cleaning needs and potential hazards.
• Uphold the reputation of our client by ensuring a consistently high standard of environmental cleanliness.
