Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Fowler, CA seeks a Dietary Manager to lead the Food and Nutrition Services, oversee budget, purchasing, and meal preparation, and ensure meals align with residents’ needs and care plans.

You will supervise staff, maintain sanitation, monitor regular and therapeutic diets, plan menus with dietitians, participate in QAPI and interdisciplinary teams, and uphold safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. This role requires strong leadership and communication.

Qualifications

• Certification as dietary manager or food service manager, or completion of a Culinary School program, or an equivalent national certification.
• An associate’s or higher degree in food service management or hospitality with coursework in food service or restaurant management.
• State requirements for food service/dietary managers must be met.
• Two years of experience in foodservice management; healthcare foodservice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the budget and purchasing of food and supplies, and food preparation, services, and storage.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary environment.
• Overseeing safe and timely meal preparation, including the provision of meals and/or supplements per residents’ needs and care plans.
• Monitors regular and therapeutic diets, including texture modifications to meet residents’ needs.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Participates in QAPI activities when food and nutrition services are involved.
• Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, coaches, evaluates, rewards, disciplines, and terminates staff in Food and Nutrition Services.
• Develops work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for each shift.
• Monitors budgets for cost-effectiveness and manages revenue-generating services.
• Uses forecasts, waste records, inventory, and equipment records to plan purchases.
