Job summary

American business solutions inc is seeking a contract SQL/Data Analyst to translate and optimize queries for Snowflake, working with epidemiologists to transform data and support federal/state reporting. You will help document logic, build complex reports, and ensure data quality across multiple data sources.

Responsibilities include converting existing HUE/Cloudera queries to Snowflake, creating structured queries, and validating results with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience developing and executing SQL queries with minimal supervision.
• Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting reporting requirements with business stakeholders.
• Experience performing QA checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency for analysis and reporting.
• One year of ANSI SQL on Snowflake platform.
• Bachelor-level degree in CS, Engineering, Business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Translate existing SQL queries from HUE Cloudera to Snowflake.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists to design program-based SQL queries based on reporting needs.
• Answer questions from epidemiologists about SQL structure and design during development.
• Create queries for line-listed data using multiple tables and variables.
• Generate summary queries with multiple stratification criteria and validate with canned reports.
• Develop data cleaning queries for complex data structures to identify sites or cases requiring follow-up.
• Modify and troubleshoot queries during UAT to ensure functionality.
• Document logic and outputs within each query.

Complete Description

• Experienceusing Snowflake/ANSI SQL to select and transform data as needed. SQL experiencemust include data conversion, pivots, and logical assignments.
• Experiencecreating views or temporary tables within a sandbox database and/or schema tofacilitate more complex queries.
• Experienceworking with business users to understand and document their analytics andreporting requirements.
• Experiencedeveloping complex reports and dashboards for state and federal reporting.
• Experiencewith all types of testing from unit to system and user acceptance testing,developing test cases and scenarios along with business users, reporting andtracking defects, and triaging/resolving issues.
• Experiencetraining business users on analytic tools and data structures.
• Excellent communication skills both writtenand oral.

Day-to-Day responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Translateexisting SQL queries built in the HUE Cloudera to execute on the Snowflakeplatform.
• Meet withepidemiologists to develop SQL queries that incorporate program-based logicmodels based on reporting requirements and data structure.
• Answer questions from epidemiologists aboutthe structure, syntax, logic, and design of SQL queries during thecollaborative development process.
• Create queries for line listed data, incorporating variables from many different data tables.
• Create summary queries of aggregate data using multiple stratification criteria and validate using existing canned reports.
• Utilize innovative approaches to develop data cleaning queries within complex data structures that identify sites and/or cases that require follow up.
• Modify and trouble-shoot queries during user acceptance testing to validate query functionality.
• Provide detailed documentation within each query that clearly defines the logic and expected outputs for each section of coding (e.g., exclusions, calculated variables, sub-queries, stratification).
• 5 years of experience in IT with consulting experience.
