Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for doctors and clinical staff regarding facility or space issues.
  • Communicate clearly in fast-paced healthcare environments where responsiveness is critical.
  • Prioritize requests based on clinical impact and patient care needs.
  • Provide timely updates and follow‑through to ensure user satisfaction.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance in clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Assist with room turnovers, setup, and breakdown to support patient care operations.
  • Perform light construction, installation, or repair work (fixtures, furnishings, walls).
  • Support preventative maintenance to ensure equipment and spaces remain compliant and functional.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments as needed.
  • Track work orders, service requests, and completed tasks with high accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for compliance, audits, and service history.
  • Ensure all work aligns with healthcare safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  • Follow healthcare-specific safety protocols, including infection control and patient privacy guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Identify and elevate compliance, safety, or operational concerns promptly.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Healthcare Construction Technician plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and patient-ready healthcare environments. This role interfaces directly with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to address facility, equipment, and space-related needs with a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.

This position balances hands-on work with customer-facing responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Support & Customer Service
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for doctors, nurses, and clinical staff regarding facility or space-related issues
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in a fast-paced healthcare environment where responsiveness is critical
  • Prioritize requests based on clinical impact and patient care needs
  • Provide timely updates and follow-through to ensure user satisfaction
Facilities & Maintenance Support
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance tasks within clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Assist with room turnovers, setup, and breakdown to support patient care operations
  • Perform light construction, installation, or repair work (e.g., fixtures, furnishings, wall systems, basic finishes)
  • Support preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment and spaces remain compliant and functional
Coordination & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed documentation to support compliance, audits, and service history

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role is performed in active healthcare environments, including clinical and non-clinical spaces, and requires a high level of professionalism, cleanliness, and discretion. The position involves regular physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials or equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time and carry heavy objects, such as framing lumber, sheets of plywood, and other building materials. Workdays may vary between hands-on manual labor and customer-facing interactions with clinical staff. The individual must be comfortable working around patients, physicians, and nurses while adhering to healthcare safety, infection control, and privacy protocols.
