Healthcare Compliance Consultant

The role involves client engagements, working both independently and in teams to meet client needs and regulatory requirements, with a focus on healthcare compliance operations, regulatory compliance, and compliance risk areas.

Responsibilities
- Lead and provide interim or designated Compliance Officer services, managing healthcare compliance program operations and regulatory compliance. Oversee the development and implementation of compliance policies, ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, conduct compliance risk assessments, and manage the compliance hotline. Provide strategic guidance to leadership, lead training initiatives, and ensure effective application of compliance operations.
- Offer ongoing advisory services to clients to manage regulatory and operational compliance risks, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and enhancing the overall integrity and security of their compliance programs.
- Conduct research and analysis of federal and state healthcare regulations—including Anti‑Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Stark Law, HIPAA, and CMS regulations—and present findings in client‑ready oral or written formats.
- Lead investigations on compliance incidents, analyze impacts, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and fulfill reporting obligations to authorities.
- Collaborate independently and as part of a team to assess the effectiveness of clients’ compliance programs, utilizing in‑depth knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, government guidance, and industry standards. Provide actionable recommendations aligned with government requirements and best practices.
- Work closely with clients to understand unique needs and advise on enhancements to support compliance, strengthen organizational protections, and optimize efficiency of compliance frameworks.
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive compliance programs tailored to client organizations, ensuring alignment with HHS OIG and other governing bodies, including state regulations and industry standards.
- Review and refine existing protocols to align with industry best practices and organizational standards, and contribute to reports that communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
- Stay up‑to‑date on healthcare regulations and best practices to ensure compliance while providing guidance on compliance matters.
- Maintain required professional certifications.
- Complete all assignments consistently on time and at a professional level that meets quality and accuracy standards.
Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare regulations, including Anti‑Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Stark Law, HIPAA, and relevant federal and state laws.
- Experience implementing and auditing healthcare compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and managing compliance incidents and self‑disclosures.
- Superior writing skills, excellent oral communication and presentation abilities, and exceptional interpersonal skills to convey complex information and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time for client engagements, including on‑site visits across various locations.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor, preferably in Health Law & Policy, Health Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, or Public Administration.
- Active healthcare compliance certification, such as CHC.
- Relevant experience of 5 to 7 years as a healthcare compliance consultant, HHS, OIG, CMS, or a government role, and/or an in‑house Compliance Officer at a healthcare provider.
