Job summary

Douglas County Health Center is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to patrol the campus, protect residents, staff and visitors, and deter theft and disturbances. You will work under the Chief Security Officer or designee to maintain a safe environment.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to respond to emergencies, and the completion of required trainings within six months. A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in law enforcement or security involving public contact.
• Completion of training in Psychiatric/Behavioral/Emergency (Code 55), PPCT and CPI within six months.
• Mental health facility experience preferred.
• Experience using Microsoft Office preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required at the time of hire.
• Pre-employment criminal records check, post-offer drug screen and physical assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor DCHC campus to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders.
• Establish effective working relationships with clients, staff, officials and the public.
• Comply with Civil Service policies, agreements, and laws to maintain a safe work environment.
• Provide assistance to residents/patients and the public; control situations without unnecessary force.
• Respond to emergency and medical codes and crises.
• Assist psychiatric admissions and provide security during assessments.
• Monitor alarm panels and conduct monthly checks of panic alarms and fire equipment.
• Maintain records and prepare incident reports and related documents.
• Basic incident documentation and keeping Patient Rights Manual updated.
• Operate a vehicle safely when required and report to work with regular attendance.
