Job summary

The University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a Data Scientist- AI.Health4All in the College of Medicine, located in Chicago, IL. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions advancing healthcare delivery and clinical decision‑making.

You will mentor junior researchers, work with clinicians and data engineers, and build reproducible data pipelines with emphasis on fairness and real‑world impact. A PhD and strong Python/ML experience in healthcare data are required.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field.
• Strong record of research in applied machine learning, NLP, or related AI domains.
• Proficiency with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Python programming expertise and familiarity with distributed computing.
• Experience with large or complex healthcare datasets.
• Evidence of peer-reviewed publications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead applied AI/ML research projects in healthcare and biomedical domains.
• Develop and evaluate ML models, including deep learning, large language models and multimodal architectures.
• Mentor junior data scientists, researchers, and students; collaborate with clinicians and data engineers to deploy solutions.
