Job summary

Carrus Care seeks a dedicated Unit Clerk/Patient Care Technician to support our behavioral health team. You will handle clerical duties, assist with charting, and provide floor coverage as needed to ensure smooth patient flow and timely updates to families and schools.

The role requires attention to detail, basic EMR skills, and strong English communication for coordination with caregivers and staff. Prior experience in a behavioral health environment is preferred, and BLS/ de-escalation

Qualifications

• Requires exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Intermediate computer skills; EMR experience preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years’ experience as Unit Clerk/Patient Care Tech in behavioral health preferred.
• Must communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).

• Assists with providing staff breaks and filling in on the floor as a Patient Care Tech when needed.
• Assists in all codes in any capacity needed.

• Is responsible for communication to schools for admission, discharge, and weekly updates.
• Reports to work in a timely manner and adheres to policies, procedures, and processes.
• Performs other job duties as needed and/or as assigned.

Carrus Care is a mental health facility that is designed to allow children to tend to their mental health needs and complete their schoolwork onsite with the licensed treatment team ensuring success both in the classroom and personally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs clerical duties (order entry, telephone management, unit organization, etc.)
• Assists the HIM department with breaking down charts and scanning finalized product.
• Assists with providing staff breaks and filling in on the floor as a Patient Care Tech when needed.
• Assists in all codes in any capacity needed.
• Is responsible for census updates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to foster a supportive role in assisting other members of the care team.
• Requires intermediate-level computer skills. Experience navigating an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Two years’ experience working as a Unit Clerk/Patient Care Technician in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English via verbal and written means.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• BLS certification is required upon hire.
• De-escalation training is required within 30 days of hire.
