Job summary

Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to join the 2W Oncology-Med team under the RN's direction. You will transcribe orders, maintain patient records, and credit patient charges while ensuring the unit is stocked and ready for patient care.

Part-time position at 0.5 FTE with DAY/PM rotation; requires a high school diploma. Preference given to those who completed a Health Unit Coordinator course or have related experience.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Completion of Health Unit Coordinator course preferred.
• Previous Health Unit Coordinator, Patient Care or general office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $18.70 - $27.11 Hourly
Schedule/Hours: DAY/PM (EVENING) ROTATION, 8/ 12 hours
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
FTE: PART TIME, 0.500000 FTE

JOB SUMMARY

The Health Unit Coordinator, under the direction of the RN, demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the HUC role in the team delivery of patient care. Uses current technology to transcribe orders, maintain the integrity of the patient medical record, and gathers/enters and credits patient charges. Keeps the unit stocked.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Legible handwriting; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated organizational skill; display of proper telephone etiquette; ability to communicate with people in a tactful manner; ability to perform basic computer keyboarding with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

• WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
