Job summary

Apple Inc. is hiring a Health Software - QA Tools & Automation Engineer in San Diego, CA. You will help ensure the Health experience is reliable, with an emphasis on automated testing for Health and Research apps within Apple’s ecosystem.

You’ll work with experienced engineers and medical experts to qualify features, maintain automation libraries, and triage issues across CI pipelines. This role requires autonomous problem solving, strong communication, and a passion for software quality.

Qualifications

  • Proficient programming knowledge in Swift, Objective-C, or similar architected language.
  • Strong object oriented programming and software design skills.
  • Independent thinker with the ability to triage, investigate, and debug difficult technical and UX problems autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate close interaction with development teams, management, and other organizations within Apple.
  • Passion for quality assurance in software, including developing, extending and maintaining test plans, methodologies, as well as automation libraries.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.

We are looking for a Software Test Automation Engineer to help ensure our Health experience is rock-solid and customer-focused. We're looking for critical thinkers who would like to play a key role qualifying critical software and the frameworks that support it during all stages of software development. We practice nimble, fast-paced development that relies heavily on a tight relationship between Development, Project Management, and QA.

Description

As a Test Automation Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to have a direct hand in crafting the next advancements in Apple’s health software ecosystem. We work on the Health app—a platform for Health and Fitness efforts across Apple—as well as the Research App and related features and experiences that broaden the definition of what our platform can do. You will work with experienced engineers, designers, and medical experts to qualify and refine features that delight users as well as form a solid technical foundation for future development. In this position, you will need to be self-directed, creative, and comfortable with change and ambiguity. Strong technical and interpersonal skills are all essential.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficient programming knowledge in Swift, Objective-C, or similar architected language.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in automated Software Quality Assurance
  • Experience writing production-ready automated UI and non-UI tests
  • Creative problem solver with a knack for building scalable solutions in a collaborative and cross-functional space
  • Ability to proactively triage, investigate, and debug difficult technical and UX problems independently as well as collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate close interaction with development teams, management, and other organizations within Apple
  • Previous work with regulated medical devices
  • Experience with Xcode, Xcode Cloud, and XCTest/XCUITest
  • A passion for health and health-related technology

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $118,000 and $207,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
