Job summary

Normandale Community College is seeking a Health Sciences Lab Assistant to support Health Sciences, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, and simulation labs. Qualifications

  • Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure as a RN, MA, NA, or health care simulation lab assistant.
  • Or 6 months of teaching/tutoring experience at the high school level or above in nursing/medical fields.
  • Or 2 years of work experience in nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Classification: College Laboratory Assistant 1 Seasonal, August to May, Full-time 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (Monday – Friday) Schedules are established each semester and may vary based on lab operational hours. Position is completely on sight Salary Range: Hourly from $21.26 to $29.28; Annually from $44,372 to $61,137 Salary placement is dependent on education and experience (Please note that a different range may be displayed elsewhere in this post due to a glitch, this is the correct range.) THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT

The role of the CLA 1 is to provide operational support for the Health Sciences, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, and simulation laboratories. No student instruction or assessment will be provided by the CLA 1. This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure as a registered nurse, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant OR 6 months of teaching/tutoring experience nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant, at the high school level or above OR 2 years of work experience in nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant, where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required experience OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in a Health Science Discipline
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventorying, and lab and stockroom experience
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and supplies and common nursing procedures
  • Experience with simulation related technology
  • Ability to organize time and prioritize tasks, to follow up, and follow-through on tasks and projects
  • Experience working with Microsoft office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong verbal and written communication
