Job summary

The incumbent will align with district policies, maintain student records, and engage with parents and the community while delivering inclusive, standards-based health science education.

Qualifications

• Active Alabama license in Nursing or allied health field as eligible for Health Science instruction.
• Option 1: regionally accredited associate's degree with 3 years full-time work in past 7 years.
• Option 2: bachelor's or higher with 1 year full-time work in area to be taught.
• Currently CTE certified in Health Science.

Responsibilities

• Help students learn subject matter and skills to develop as responsible individuals.
• Determine individual and class needs and establish objectives.
• Plan learning experiences and use varied instructional methods to meet objectives.
• Maintain standards of student behavior and create a positive learning environment.
• Demonstrate positive communication with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
• Assess and report student progress and evaluate the educational program.
• Maintain records and submit reports in a timely manner.
• Adhere to school policies, district procedures, and state/federal regulations.
• Engage in professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Alabama nursing license

Postsecondary degree + 3 years experience

The Health Science teacher will facilitate career skills and prepare students for certifications through classroom instruction blended with work-based learning experiences. The Health Science teacher will follow the curriculum that is focused on academic foundation in addition to hand-on skills that are practiced in a health care environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society.
• Determines individual and class needs.
• Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.
• Implements activities using a variety of techniques to utilize instructional time and meet objectives.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
• Exhibits positive human relation skills.
• Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
• Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
• Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
• Maintains and submits records and reports in a timely manner.
• Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations.
• Engages in professional growth & demonstrate professional ethics & leadership.
• Other duties as assigned by principal.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Active Alabama license in a registered nursing (LPN, CRNP, RN), pharmacist, paramedical, or allied health area (athletic trainer, occupational therapist, physical therapist, physician, physician assistant, respiratory therapist, veterinarian)
• Document one of the following:
  • Completion of regionally accredited postsecondary associate's degree program and three years of full-time work experience within past seven years OR
  • Completion of bachelor's or higher degree program at a regionally accredited senior institution and one year of full-timework experience within past three years in area to be taught OR
  • Currently CTE certified in Health Science.
