Responsibilities

• Oversee HSE management system implementation.

• Monitor overall HSE performance.
• Confirm contractors provide sufficient HSE resources, facilities, and programs.
• Promote proactive HSE engagement and participation across all contractor personnel.
• Ensure contractor supervision understands and enforces HSE responsibilities and safe work practices.
• Verify contractor suitability and competency to work safely on the project.
• Monitor overall HSE performance and recommend corrective actions where needed.
• Ensure site orientations, inductions, and task-specific HSE training are conducted.
• Verify incident reporting and investigations are completed per project requirements.
• Confirm emergency response, first aid, and hygiene monitoring programs are in place.
• Ensure HSE documentation, records, and MSDS are properly maintained.
• Participate in HSE committee meetings and advise project management on HSE matters.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled site inspections and audits.
• Attend contractor toolbox talks to ensure appropriate HSE messaging is delivered.
• Encourage hazard identification and reporting by all site personnel.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or actions are observed.
• Provide regular HSE performance reporting to the Project Director / Construction Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced HSE Supervisor to support site safety oversight for a geotechnical site investigation project in Alaska. This role will work closely with Construction Superintendents and report directly to the Project Director while on site, with a functional reporting line to the Home Office HSE Manager to maintain independence.

The HSE Supervisor will verify contractor compliance with the Owner-approved HSE program and ensure all site activities are executed safely, responsibly, and in alignment with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and verify implementation of the project's site-specific HSE management system
• Ensure contractors have identified, assessed, and are managing risks per the approved risk management plan
• Verify adequate protection measures for personnel, the environment, and the public
• Confirm contractors are providing sufficient HSE resources, facilities, and programs
• Promote proactive HSE engagement and participation across all contractor personnel
• Ensure contractor supervision understands and enforces HSE responsibilities and safe work practices
• Verify contractor suitability and competency to work safely on the project
• Monitor overall HSE performance and recommend corrective actions where needed
