The Opportunity
LHH Recruitment is partnering with a well-established industrial manufacturing organization that is experiencing significant growth and investing in its Health, Safety & Environment function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional who enjoys being hands-on in a manufacturing environment and wants the ability to make a visible impact. This is not simply a regulatory or paperwork-focused position. You will spend significant time working alongside operations and employees to identify hazards, improve safety programs, investigate incidents, deliver training, and help create a safer working environment.
What You'll Do
- Support day-to-day health, safety, and environmental programs across a large manufacturing facility
- Conduct facility inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments
- Identify unsafe conditions and partner with operations leadership to implement solutions
- Support and administer respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and employee education
- Promote safe practices related to welding, fabrication, heavy equipment, forklifts, cranes, and industrial operations
- Support employee exposure monitoring and medical monitoring programs
- Help address welding fumes, airborne contaminants, chemical exposure, ventilation, and other industrial hygiene concerns
- Maintain safety records and track HSE performance
- Partner closely with employees, supervisors, plant leadership, and HSE leadership
- Utilize root cause analysis tools such as TapRooT or similar methodologies
- Provide occasional support outside standard business hours when serious safety incidents occur
- Potentially grow into a broader role supporting additional business operations and locations
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of relevant HSE, EHS, or industrial safety experience preferred
- Hands-on experience within manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, heavy industrial, metal fabrication, or another high-risk environment
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA requirements
- Experience performing safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations
- Understanding of industrial hazards involving heavy equipment, material handling, forklifts, cranes, electrical systems, and machinery
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with both production employees and leadership
Highly Preferred
- Knowledge of welding safety, ventilation, fumes, hearing and respiratory exposure, and medical monitoring
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
- Professional safety certification such as CSP, ASP, NEBOSH, or similar
- TapRooT or comparable root cause investigation experience
