Job summary

Bayer CropScience Limited in Idaho is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment Technician to plan, develop, and deliver training on environmental hazards and safe work practices.

The role investigates incidents, implements safety protocols, and leads the site HSE Safety Program while promoting a culture of continuous safety improvement and employee engagement. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Relevant experience in safety or manufacturing, agriculture or a technical environment.
  • Valid Driver's License; driving record check will be reviewed as part of preemployment screening.
  • Basic knowledge of IT (Internet, Excel, PPT, Word).
  • Availability to meet overtime demands, including occasional work on weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 40–50 pounds regularly.

Job description

Health, Safety, and Environment Technician
Responsibilities

Encompasses planning, developing, and conducting training programs related to environmental hazards, including identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions in the workplace and external environments. Investigates accidents and environmental incidents, identifies their causes, and determines how to prevent their recurrence.

Implement safety protocols and ensure organizational and regulatory compliance. Lead the site HSE Safety Program and drive employee engagement through safety projects, new initiatives, and timely reporting of safety issues.

  • Display working knowledge of warehouse, plant and field operations;
  • Promote an environment that continuously meets and improves established Bayer HSE manufacturing fundamentals;
  • Lead the site HSE Safety Program and drive employee engagement through safety projects and new initiatives, and timely reporting of safety issues;
  • Promote continuous improvement of site safety culture through visible leadership;
  • Drive employee engagement by creating internal audit opportunities with visible corrective action tracking;
  • Develop operational (hands‑on) knowledge and functional understanding of at least three key operational areas across the warehouse, plant and field;
  • Engage as chair of at least one of the Safety committees (e.g., Off‑the‑Job Safety);
  • Mentor less experienced Safety technicians and coach employees across the site on basic safety standards;
  • Ensure compliance with all hazardous work permits and site environmental permits;
  • Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work, aligning with the labeling and ordering of tools;
  • Utilize Focused Improvement (e.g., 5WHY’s) techniques to contribute to the improvement of processes and site safety program;
  • Initiate periodic communication with HSE Generalist and Corporate HSE Team to ensure alignment;
  • Help keep metrics and other relevant information current on visual boards to drive teamwork and facilitate shift change over;
  • Participate in DDS (Daily Direction Setting) meetings and follow through on safety‑related issues;
  • Active participant in Certified Management Representative (CMR) program.

Position entails driving a company vehicle. This may include being required to drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle or being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties, regardless of mileage.

Qualifications
Required
  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Relevant experience in safety or manufacturing, agriculture or a technical environment;
  • Valid Driver's License. Eligibility to drive a company car requires a driving record that meets the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of preemployment screening;
  • Basic knowledge of IT (Internet, Excel, PPT, Word, facility systems);
  • Availability to meet overtime demands, including occasional work on weekends and holidays;
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 40–50 pounds regularly.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • 3 years of experience in safety or manufacturing, agriculture, or a technical environment;
  • ASP or CSP certifications;
  • OSHA 30‑hour General Industry course;
  • Experience in risk analysis techniques.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate between $29.74 and $36.41. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on location, market data, applicant’s skills, prior experience, and other factors.
