Job summary

Alaska Department of Health is seeking a Deputy Section Chief for the Section of Public Health Nursing in Anchorage. The role combines executive leadership with statewide coordination of programs, operations, and legislative priorities to advance Alaskans’ health.

Serve as the Deputy Section Chief for the Section of Public Health Nursing (SOPHN), providing executive-level leadership and supporting the coordination of statewide programs, operations, strategic initiatives, and legislative priorities.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This is a hybrid position that combines telework with in-person work in a professional office setting, including Public Health Center/clinic and administrative office environments as operational needs require. This position is stationed in Anchorage.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biological, health or behavioral science; health practice; education; public, healthcare, or business administration; or a closely related field;

Progressively responsible professional supervisory experience performing health program planning, development, coordination, evaluation, or implementation; providing technical health care assistance and consultation; conducting health care utilization or quality assurance examinations; and/or delivering health care service.

Agencies employing Health Program Managers are responsible for administering a wide range of medical, behavioral, and social health insurance programs for children and adults.
