Job Description

The Division of Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic individual to join our collaborative and supportive team as a Health Program Manager 2.

In this role, you will directly manage Behavioral Health Residential Child Care Facilities (RCCFs) and Adult Mental Health Residential (AMHR) programs. You will oversee licensing investigations into reports of alleged harm, licensure noncompliance, and other violations to help ensure safe, high-quality care for vulnerable children and adults.

You will work closely with dedicated colleagues and leadership, engage with local, state, and federal partners, and provide training, technical assistance, and regulatory guidance to RCCFs and AMHR program staff. Our team values open communication, shared problem-solving, and supporting one another in delivering consistent, compassionate behavioral health services.

This position requires frequent work travel to remote locations throughout the State of Alaska or the Lower 48 to conduct inspections.

A valid and current Alaskan Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.

Working Environment

Anchorage Regional Office: Conveniently located at 3601 C. St., Suite 878, Anchorage, AK 99503, Midtown Anchorage, and within walking distance of Cuddy Family Park, Loussac Library, and Natural Pantry. A hybrid work environment offers the opportunity for designated telework and in-office days.

Qualifications

• Program Oversight: Plans, coordinates, and monitors programs to ensure that federal, state, and/or local government program requirements and plans are met, providing professional consultation on the specialized services of the program or associated project(s).
• Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Special Notice

• This position requires frequent travel via airplane or vehicle to remote locations throughout the State of Alaska or the Lower 48 to conduct inspections.

Education / Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biological, health, or behavioral science; health practice; education; public, healthcare, or business administration; or a closely related field; OR progressively responsible professional experience performing health program planning, development, coordination, evaluation, or implementation; providing technical health care assistance and consultation; conducting health care utilization or quality assurance examinations; and/or delivering health care. Positions typically focus on a particular health area. Where licensure is required, the job vacancy announcement will identify the type of license necessary to apply for that specific position. The essential functions of some positions may involve exposure to infectious disease and/or biohazards. Travel may be required.
