Job summary

Team Select Home Care is seeking an in-home Health Maintenance Activity Attendant to perform routine care tasks under supervision of qualified agency personnel. You will assist with activities of daily living, medication management, and age-appropriate health maintenance in clients' homes.

The role requires at least 16 years old and the ability to follow written and verbal directions, with reliable attendance and a compassionate approach to elder care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Shall not represent themselves as licensed nurse or aides.
• Shall not have license suspended or revoked.

Responsibilities

• Understands and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
• Promotes client rights.
• Performs health maintenance activities per plan of care and policy (skin care, ambulation, bathing, dressing, feeding, etc.).
• Executes household services essential to care in the home as assigned.
• Completes service notes accurately and timely.
• Reports changes in client condition to supervisor.
• Participates in orientation, training and competency programs.
• Attends supervisory visits as directed.
• Coordinates client care as required.

Job description

The Health Maintenance Activity Attendant is a person who is specifically trained, competent and performs assigned functions of health maintenance activity attendant to the client in their residence under the direction, instruction and supervision of qualified Agency personnel/Agency’s Licensed Health Care Professional. In this role, you will report to the Operations Manager/IHSS Clinical Program Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Understands and adheres to established Agency policies and procedures
• Understands and promotes client rights
• Performs health maintenance activities in accordance with the plan of care and Agency policy. Duties include but are not limited to: skin care, ambulation, bathing, dressing, feeding, hair care, mouth care, nail care, positioning, shaving, toileting, transfers, medication management, protective oversight, bowel/blader care, respiratory care, etc. (Minor attendants will not be permitted to operate floor-based vertical powered patient/resident lift devices, ceiling-mounted vertical powered patient/resident lift devices, and powered sit-to-stand patient/resident lift devices (lifting devices)
• Performs household services essential to care in the home as assigned
• Completes appropriate service notes completely, accurately and in a timely manner as per Agency policy
• Reports changes in the client’s condition and needs to the supervisor
• Participates in all required orientation, training, competency and in-service programs as scheduled and necessary per Agency policy
• Is available for and participates in the supervisory visits per Agency direction
• Participates in coordination of client care, as required

• Demonstrate competency in caring for the client to the satisfaction of the client or Authorized Representative
• Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly
• Ability to carry out written and verbal directions read and write
• Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job
• Must be able to lift, pull, push and carry heavy weight; must be able to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach
• May be a family member subject to the reimbursement and service limitations (family members cannot be reimbursed for homemaker services)

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Shall not represent themselves to the public as a licensed nurse, a certified nurse’s aide, a licensed practical or professional nurse, a registered nurse or a registered professional nurse
• Shall not have had their license as a nurse or certified nurse aide suspended or revoked or their application for such license or certification denied.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00 / hour
