Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of creditable experience showing knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and health records.
• Six months of the required year of creditable experience must provide KSAs.
• An associate's degree with 12 semester hours in HIT/HIM or related field.
• Educational substitutions are allowed for combining education and experience.
• English language proficiency in speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, abstract, maintain, extract, and compile information from health records.
• Check health records for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Monitor and report for regulatory compliance.
• Refer to grandfathering provisions as applicable to current VHA employees.
