Trinity Health in Syracuse, NY is seeking a part-time Health Information Technician to organize, abstract, and manage health data in the medical records department. You will work with established regulatory standards and demonstrate strong computer literacy to support clinical documentation and information retrieval.

Ideal candidates have strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency in PC applications.

Qualifications

• Accredited Record Technician preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent, medical secretarial or health information education a plus.
• One to two years experience in a Medical Record Department.

  Reviews/analyzes/abstracts/releases information in the medical records, using pre-established criteria and complex regulatory
  standards. Works with technical systems requiring a high level of computer literacy.
  EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
  Accredited Record Technician preferred. High school graduate or equivalent, medical secretarial or health information education a
  plus. One to two years experience in a Medical Record Department.
  Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of
  expertise.
  SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  Knowledge of office equipment, i.e. FAX, copy machine, microfilm reader/printers and multi-line phones. Formal or working
  knowledge of PC applications, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written,
  as well as good interpersonal skills required. Customer service orientated.
  WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
  Office setting – Exposure Class I. Limited exposure to situations, which could cause serious illness or injury.
  PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  Light work: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying. Exposure to CRT and repetitive motions.
  WORK CONTACT GROUP:
  All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors and various regulatory and professional agency staff.
