Job summary

Glacier Support Services is seeking a Health Educator to support the Armed Forces Wellness Center (AFWC) at Ft. Meade, MD. The Health Educator coordinates primary prevention services, delivers education on nutrition, stress management, and tobacco use, and supports six core AFWC programs to build readiness.

The role requires a 4-year Allied Health degree, credentials such as ACSM/NASM/NSCA/CHES/MCHES, and AHA BLS certification, with strong public speaking and teamwork skills. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in health-related field ( Allied Health ) is required.
• Current nationally recognized credentials such as ACSM/NASM/NSCA/CHES/MCHES are required.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Excellent public speaking and customer service skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to meet Public Trust requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver evidence-based health promotion programs.
• Conduct fitness testing and health/wellness assessments using advanced equipment.
• Provide individual and group coaching applying behavior-change theories.
• Develop health education programs aligned with AFWC directives.
• Maintain accurate data collection in approved systems.

Job description

Glacier Support Services is seeking a Health Educator to support the Armed Forces Wellness Center (AFWC) at Ft. Meade, MD.

The Health Educator reports to the AFWC Director/Lead Health Educator and works as part of a team delivering primary prevention services designed to improve health and build readiness. The role supports six core AFWC programs: health assessment review, physical fitness, healthy nutrition, stress management, general wellness education, and tobacco education.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct evidence-based health promotion and education programs using behavioral change theories and evaluation tools to improve and measure health behaviors.
• Conduct physical fitness testing and comprehensive health and wellness assessments using advanced technology, including direct gas exchange, ultrasound body fat, air displacement plethysmography, indirect calorimetry, and heart rate variability.
• Provide individual and group coaching using behavior change theories and health coaching strategies.
• Assess, develop, and plan individual and group health education programs in accordance with AFWC standardized program directives.
• Maintain complete and timely data collection and entry through approved documentation systems.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy/physiology, exercise science and programming, health psychology, basic nutrition, and counseling techniques.
• Collaborate effectively with community agencies while managing multiple priorities and working both independently and as part of the AFWC team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

Required:

• 4-year degree in an Allied Health field from an accredited college or university. Allied Health degrees include, but are not limited to, health promotion, health education, exercise science, and nutrition science.
• One or more nationally recognized NCCA credentials, such as ACSM, NASM, NSCA, CHES/MCHES, etc.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Excellent public speaking and customer service skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
