Job summary

SDSU Research Foundation is seeking a research professional to evaluate Medi-Cal expansions with a focus on health economics, tax simulations, and policy impact analysis. You will work with the project PI and a multidisciplinary team in a rigorous academic setting.

The role emphasizes quantitative analyses of premiums, out-of-pocket costs, disposable income, and employment effects using large datasets and microsimulation tools.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative research skills in health economics, health services research, public policy, economics, statistics, data science.
• Experience cleaning, managing, and analyzing large administrative or survey datasets.
• Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (R, Python, Stata, SAS, SQL).
• Ability to develop reproducible code, analytic files, data dictionaries, tables, and figures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statistical and econometric analyses under faculty supervision.
• Prepare TAXSIM input files and summarize tax simulation outputs.
• Assist with economic impact analyses using IMPLAN or similar tools.
• Support data visualization and preparation of tables and figures for manuscripts and reports.
• Maintain research documentation and ensure data security and IRB compliance.
