Mercer in the Health & Benefits team is seeking a Health & Benefits Consultant, Project Manager based in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland or Pittsburgh. This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least three days per week.

The role involves managing engagements for 2,000+ life employers, negotiating with carriers, and serving as client and Mercer relationship manager. The base salary range is $88,000 to $176,000, with performance incentives in a flexible rewards program.

Job description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health & Benefits team at Mercer. This role will be based in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland or Pittsburgh . This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Health & Benefits Consultant, Project Manager, you will assist with managing consulting engagements with 2,000+ life employers regarding their medical, dental, life, and disability benefit plans and programs. You will negotiate with benefits carriers and vendors to secure health and welfare plan coverage for these employers, acting as the client manager and often the Mercer relationship manager.

We will count on you to:
  • Manage complex client engagements, including overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other studies.
  • Develop sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies and drive the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues.
  • Develop the full scope of services provided to the client and set roles/responsibilities within the client team.
  • Effectively communicate Mercer's position on the latest industry trends to clients.
  • Be accountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projects.
  • Monitor the success of projects in terms of scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
  • Set strategic direction and create demand for new products/services in the marketplace.
  • Manage and participate in new business opportunities with sales channel partners.
  • Thrive and be motivated by an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.
What you need to have:
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care benefit plans.
  • Client facing experience in a consulting capacity

The applicable base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $176,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
