Job summary

ERM in Seattle, Washington seeks a motivated Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our team on a fixed-term, full-time basis (40 hours/week) for a 6-12 month contract with potential extension.

The ideal candidate will implement State and Federal OSHA/EPA requirements, EHS programs, SOPs, JHA/Risk Assessments, emergency plans, and contractor safety; familiarity with lab safety, waste management, Tier II reporting and chemical safety is preferred. Local travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform compliance audits to assess client adherence to health, safety, or environmental regulations and client standards.

• Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and management system projects (lab safety, chemical safety, hazardous materials).
• Develop and implement EHS compliance procedures, plans, permits and reports.
• Manage tasks within scope, budget, and schedule while ensuring quality of deliverables.
• Build client relationships and seek repeat business by exceeding expectations.
• Support ERM Partners and Project Managers to deliver projects effectively.
• Foster collaboration with other ERM employees.

ERM is hiring a motivated hands‑on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our growing team in Seattle, Washington. This is a fixed‑term, full‑time role (40 hours a week) 6-12 month contract with the possibility of extension.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and supporting implementation of State and Federal OSHA and EPA requirements, Client specific EHS Programs, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis/ Risk Assessments, Emergency Response Plans, and Contractor Safety Management. Candidates should also have familiarity with research laboratory safety requirements, waste management (hazardous, non‑hazardous, universal/ electronic), environmental reporting (Tier II), and chemical safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform compliance audits to assess client compliance with applicable health and safety or environmental regulatory requirements, client standards, or management systems.
• Support our clients' desire to improve safety performance by providing training, field coaching, and targeted EHS assessments.
• Identify follow‑up corrective actions to close audit findings.
• Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS management system projects on a range of areas such as R&D laboratory safety, including biosafety, chemical safety, machine guarding, laser safety, robotics safety, hazardous materials use/storage/waste, EHS auditing.
• Develop and implement EHS compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports.
• Manage tasks within assigned scope/budget/schedule and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
• Build client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to exceed their expectations.
• Support ERM Partners and Project Managers to effectively manage and deliver projects.
• Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related discipline preferred.
• At least 2 years of applicable experience providing EHS support with an emphasis on health and safety.
• Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
• Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and being able to re‑prioritize tasks as‑needed.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
