Job summary

Mercer seeks a talented individual to join its Health Actuarial and Financial Group (AFG) in the San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, or Denver offices. This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least three days a week.

You will help employers navigate the complex world of employee benefits, cost management, and health data analytics, supporting client communications, modeling, and plan design evaluation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or related field with expected graduation Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 preferred.
• Commitment to achieving a SOA designation.
• Legal work authorization in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform responsibilities of a full-time analyst with support from experienced colleagues.
• Complete comprehensive analysis of health care data using spreadsheet and database tools.
• Assist in the development of client communications, proposals, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
• Perform basic cost projections using client cost and enrollment data with Mercer’s valuation model.
• Price medical and prescription drug plan designs using Mercer tools.
• Assist in the development of customized pricing through alternate scenario modeling of plan designs and employee contributions.
• Develop underwriting and actuarial skills and familiarity with health plan design and cost factors.
• Work in a fast-paced, dynamic consulting environment with colleagues at all levels.
