Job summary

Precision Castparts in Santa Ana, CA is seeking an experienced heading machine operator to troubleshoot, set up tooling, and support process improvements across heading and threadroll operations.

You will read blueprints, inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, and work with engineering on tooling development. Strong English communication and reliability are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heading and threadroll machines as needed.
• Work safely under PPE and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to quality processes including in-process inspection.
• Read blueprints and interpret work orders.
• Use measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, go/no go gauges.
• Lift up to 35 lbs.
• Assist in tooling/setup and order tooling.
• Submit maintenance work orders and follow up with tool rework.
• Prioritize work orders with management.
• Run heading and/or threadroll machines when required.
• Conduct random quality dimensional checks.
• Collaborate with engineering on tooling and process development.
• Work in a team environment and support others as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Heading machine operators demonstrate expert troubleshooting, full area cross training abilities as well as demonstrate knowledge of progressive header & threadroll tooling configurations and functions. Operators will demonstrate product knowledge including design, performance, and critical dimensions. They will also be involved in the development and design of new or improved processes and tools focusing on cost saving.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Adhere to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
• Use measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, go/no go gages
• Correctly interpret work orders and read blueprints.
• Lift up to 35lbs
• Assist in the development of new hires & machine setups of Nakishimadas, Sakamuras, and Nationals.
• Thread/Form Roll Machines: EW Menn and Waterbury
• Operate the following die packages.
• 1 die, 2 punches
• 2 die, 4 punches
• 3 die – 6 die
• Understand and follow the 3-pan rule.
• Prekit/Kit work orders for Heading
• Order tooling
• Submit maintenance work orders and follow up with tool rework.
• Work with management to prioritize work orders
• Run heading and/or threadroll machines when needed.
• Conduct random quality dimensional checks when needed.
• Work alongside engineering for research and development of tooling and processes.
• Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
